Jason O'Neil Jason O'Neil
An Open Letter to Joshua Kosidlo, Carson Riley and Itachi
Jason O'Neil
FUSE Wrestling Episode #60
Date: Today.
Location: Likely an email box somewhere.

My name is Jason O'Neil, and you're going to forget it.

I've been wrestling for fourteen years. In June of 1993, I debuted in front of sixteen people in a high school gymnasium in Wellington, Ohio as 'The Devil's Advocate', a natural heel in a Christian wrestling company. Needless to say, I was defeated in a squashing fashion by 'The Disciple of Gospel' James Goodwin. Needless to say, it was forgettable.

No one left the gym thinking that the guy who played that terrible devil would become anything, fourteen years later. Not even James Goodwin, who, being the promoter as well as the champion, forgot to pay me for my two minute and six second pounding in the opening match. I stood outside his makeshift office, waiting for him to come out, and when he finally did, he admitted he was short, and asked me to come back next week.

I did, and he wasn't there. His right hand man said something about doing the Lord's work in Thailand for two years. Two months later, while washing dishes in a closet somewhere that I called home, I heard his name on TV. His missionary work was nothing more than doing the missionary position with underage girls, which put him in jail for the rest of his life.

The first two years were more of the same. Silly matches, little respect, killing myself in hot barns, gyms, and backyards for fewer dollars than it took me to get where I was going. And the worst part? No one remembered me, month to month, show to show.

My name is Jason O'Neil, and you're going to forget it.

In June of 2002, I helped set the world on fire with Angelo Deville, as the two of us captured lightning in a bottle. We wrestled across the nation, and became a sensation. There wasn't a company that wouldn't take either of us with open arms, if we'd have asked. We stole the minds of millions, and still to this day, the internet buzzes with thoughts of another epic Deville vs. O'Neil matchup.

Four months later, in September, I had a knee injury that I finally couldn't ignore anymore. I went under the knife, and not even two months later, I was forgotten again. I went back to FSW, but, it wasn't the same. I worked with Cisco Milloy and Boda, but, it wasn't the same. The magic was gone, and while the entire world celebrated Angelo Deville, Jason O'Neil stood alone, an innocent bystander looking at what he helped create.

On one hand, I was happy and proud. On the other hand, the constant barrage of questions, asking about Deville was taxing and degrading. I wasn't his PR department, and I didn't want to be. I wanted to talk about me, and no one cared.

My name is Jason O'Neil, and I'd ask that you please don't forget it.

November of 2007, I have a unique shot to do something I've never done before: Win singles gold. That's right. Jason O'Neil is a five-time tag team champion, winning belts with former GCW World Champions Twizzy and Bryan Mayhem three different times. But, I've never won a singles belt.

There's been opportunity, sure. I was the number one contender to the TWO World Championship, and midway through the match, just before I pinned the Almighty Kippo, the MEWF interfered, and the news came that we'd been sold, and the two companies were going to combine. There was the time I pinned Mikey Hurricane, and just as the referee's hand fell for the two, the company folded by the time the hand fell for three.

I was the chosen one that was supposed to get Jim Axtell's PWC championship, but, differences with management caused me to leave the company, and watch it implode. I could have had a shot at the GCW World Championship, but, each time, Caldera went in a different direction.

So, Kosidlo, Itachi and Riley, I hope you're listening, here, because I'm tired of being at the cusp. Friday night, people are going to look in the ring, and during that main event, they're going to get their money's worth. Friends will high five friends, family will come closer, and people will celebrate along with me, when my arm's raised in the air, as the number one contender for the LiveWire Championship.

Don't worry, boys. I have every faith that some day, we'll talk about Carson Riley, the Gateway Champion. I have no doubt that someday, Itachi, you'll be the Livewire Champion, and Kosidlo, if you're not the Universal Champion by next year, I'll personally do what it takes to guide you to that belt. But, this is my time. This is my night.

Please, let me have this. Please. I'm on my knees, gentlemen. I've fought fourteen years to get here, and I can't lose again. I can't, and I won't. I'll do whatever it takes to win this match. I need to be champion.

Because I'm Jason O'Neil, and I'm absolutely tired of being forgotten.
